Originals 2009 The Contemporary Printmaking Show - Mall Galleries London. Zacron exhibits Memento of Childhood
This exhibition is the most prestigious of its kind in Britain.
Organised by The Federation of British Artists, the show was chaired by
Wendy Harmen (top-left with Zacron) who sits on the FBA and NEAC Friends'
committee, she is a trustee of Artichoke Printmaking and was elected a
director of The Arts Club in 2007.
The pre-launch party was hosted by Sir Peter Blake. Artists' Prizes and
Awards were presented by Rebecca Hossack a major figure in international
contemporary art.
She writes of the exhibiting artists -
'Printmaking is a demanding discipline, but those demands, if mastered, can
be liberating. It was clear in all the most exciting work submitted for the show
that the artists were not using print-processes merely to replicate work done
best, or first, in some other medium. They approached with a wonderful sense
of what was unique and special about a certain technique, subtleties of
aquatint, hard-won precision of etchings, the joyful boldness of screen-printing,
the new frontiers of digital technology. They allied that technical mastery with
an instinct for why their chosen method was best suited to their subject'.

his father into the Wiltshire Regiment. He spent five years in Sandhurst, three
years in the Australian Army Band Core and seventeen in the Royal Australian
Airforce Central Melbourne Band. He also assisted the artist Robert Lenkiewiz.
Given the heraldic and emblematic nature of 'Memento of Childhood' the Chelsea
pensioner contributed a spectacular but transitory, three dimensional addition
to the work!
